Willie Rack 

Willie Rack is a lifelong resident of Franklin, Louisiana, and was born on February 3, 1949 to the parents of Emmadell Porter and Bennie Rack. He is the youngest of four children. Upon graduation from Park Avenue High School, he volunteered to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. After completion of boot camp, his orders were to go overseas for combat in Vietnam. He was wounded on two separate occasions, and for his bravery, he was awarded the Purple Heart (2), Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal, to name a few.

After serving his country as a Marine, Willie received an honorable discharge. He returned to Franklin and married his high school sweetheart, Pearl Barnes Rack. Willie became a law enforcement officer and his wife a teacher. During their 43 years of marriage, they raised three children: Toddric, Willdric, and Alexis Rack.

Willie served in the field of Law Enforcement for 25 years to retirement. During this time he graduated from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff Department Academy, Field in-service Training School, and the South East Narcotics Program. He successfully completed coursework at the University of Southwestern Louisiana and Nicholls State University in classes such as Crime in the Black Community, Child Crime, Homicide, Crime Scene Investigation, Gangs and Cocaine, Stress Management and many more.

Willie serves in many civic and social organizations. He is currently a member of the Teche Action Board, Chairman of the Trustee Board at Triumph Baptist Church, member of the American Legion Organization, Vice Chairman of the Morgan City U.S.B.C League, captain of his bowling league, and Vice Chairman of the Veteran of Foreign Wars local organization. He is a past board member and a past chairman of the board of Community Action Agency.

Willie is proud of his children who are graduates of Southern University, Northwestern State University, and Mississippi State University, respectively. His daughter was named Miss Louisiana State Basketball in 2006; named the best female basketball player for two consecutive years in the state of Mississippi; drafted by the San Antonio Silver Stars WNBA Basketball Team; and was an overseas player. Two of his children and have settled in Louisiana, and one is in Houston, Texas with their families.

Willie Rack is a dedicated church member, bowler, community server (called upon quite often by those in the community), and actively dedicated to any organization he is a member. He is also the doting grandfather of three. He believes in honesty, truth, and support whenever possible to others less fortunate.
